Current Student Research

Ashley Everette has worked in the R-MC Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory since her freshman year conducting three Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) projects.  She is investigating the neurobiological effects of parenting experience in two species of male peromyscus mice—californicus (a biparental species) and maniculatus (a uniparental species).

Mollee Farrell is currently conducting a senior project in the R-MC Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory. She is interested in the effects of maternal experience on stress responsiveness (behavioral, cardiovascular, and endocrinological) in rats.

Darby Fleming conducted a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship last summer and is currently conducting a senior project.  Extending on fellow student, Kelly Tu’s, coping profile research, Darby is investigating neurobiological (behavioral, cardiovascular, neuroanatomical, and endocrinological) responses in rats exhibiting various coping strategies; additionally, she is investigating susceptibility to depression in the flexible, passive, and active coping rats.

Torrie Higgins conducted a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship last summer and is currently conducting a senior project.  She is interested in the effects of maternal experience on attention processes and accompanying brain activation; additionally, she is interested in the effects of parity on motor coordination, strength, and agility.

Kelly Tu has worked in the lab since her freshman year conducting two Summer Undergarduate Research Fellowship projects and collaborating on additional projects.  She has adapted a coping strategy profile from pigs to rats and is interested in determining the neurobiological correlates of these coping strategies, as well as the plasticity of these responses.
