- Index to GNU Software GNU is free UNIX software and software tools. It includes a free version of UNIX (LINUX), languages(gcc, g++, etc.), development tools (Bison, a version of TCL, etc.), and UNIX tools (the EMACS text editor, version of diff, etc.).
